Plastic Surgery Safety

Plastic surgery used to be limited to reconstructive surgery because of congenital defects, accidents, and illnesses. Years back, people could go to hospitals, confident that a certified surgeon will be taking care of their cases. But with the rapid expansion of plastic surgery to cosmetics and physical enhancement, people can't be absolutely sure that their presiding plastic surgeon is the real deal.

From this perspective, having a less invasive and short-term procedure like threadlift seems preferable. In case of a bad job, the effects could wear off fast enough. Unfortunately, not all defects and deformities can be repaired by threadlift. Limited to eliminating facial age lines, a threadlift is not the best solution for more serious problems. Also, as minor as it is, even threadlifts require surgery like most cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. Although the procedure does not necessitate anesthesia, it still requires incisions to insert the thread. As simple as the procedure is, things can go terribly wrong if an unqualified surgeon performs it.

The first step in preventing plastic surgery mishaps is choosing the right plastic surgeon. People are advised to verify if their plastic surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery even before proceeding with something as harmless as a consultation. It is important to check if the clinic or surgery venue is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, and the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Lastly, people are also advised to check if the clinic has a licensed anesthesiologist for surgical procedures that call for anesthesia. These elements partly ensure that the surgeon, as well as the clinic, is competent and qualified enough to handle medical and cosmetic procedures.

Taking the necessary precautions will not guarantee a smooth-sailing surgical experience but it will definitely lessen the risks. Doctors and facility employees have to be responsible for their patients' well-being. By not having legit certifications to conduct plastic surgery procedures, these so-called professionals are putting people's health at risk. As it is, people are encouraged to make selecting a capable and certified doctor their duty before going under the knife.
